TORONTO – Health officials have announced that they are investigating a case of laboratory-confirmed measles related to a trip to York Region, north of Toronto.
York Region Public Health has identified three places where people may have been exposed to the disease.
Anyone who visited the Southlake Regional Health Center's emergency department in Newmarket on Sunday or Monday, the walk-in doctor's office clinic in Richmond Hill on April 10, 11 or 12 or the Nando's restaurant in Richmond Hill on April 10 may be at risk and should see a doctor.
Symptoms of measles can appear between seven and 18 days after contact with an infected person and can start with a cough, runny nose, fever, red and watery eyes and small spots with a white center in the mouth .
A red and spotted rash appears from the third to the seventh day.
