Madame Delphine Gborgblorvor, director of health services for the Obuasi East district, accused health workers in the region of not giving in to the fight against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

She said that while health workers in the region had shown greater commitment and dedication in tackling the spread of the virus in the region, it was necessary for them to continue working hard. until the virus is completely eradicated from the district.

“The task ahead is Herculean, but with the commitment we have demonstrated so far, we can overcome it,” she said at a meeting of the District Health Executive Platform (DHEP), which was created to help mitigate the spread of the virus. in the zone.

The platform is made up of the District Health Director, representatives from the District Assembly, the Christian Health Association of Ghana, private hospitals and AngloGold Ashanti Hospital.

It was inaugurated on November 18 last year to design and implement effective measures that would help reduce the spread of the virus in the district.

Members of the Platform are expected to hold monthly meetings, offer training programs, contact tracing, case management and educational programs on coronavirus disease in different communities in the district.

Ms Gborgblorvor reminded the public to follow safety protocols – wear an approved face mask that covers nose and mouth in public areas, maintain a social distance of at least two meters when possible, wash their hands frequently with soap under running water and avoid public gatherings unless absolutely necessary.

The members present at the meeting decided to monitor and see the impact of the screening and triage workshop at their various facilities over the following months.

Regarding the new arrangement for sample collection in the district, members agreed to new measures that would increase the efficiency of the systems already in place for transporting samples to the KCCR for testing, while making the most of the limited resources for testing at the AGM.
