The Peoria Heart & Stroke Annual Ball for the American Heart Association brought together health professionals, survivors and charities on Saturday.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, with stroke ranking second.

The organizers say that, while raising money for healing and research, the main goal of the ball is the best way to avoid either thinking about the future and preventing diseases that lead to heart disease or stroke. a cerebral vascular accident.

"I think the key to all of this is infiltrating the good habits of life," said Dr. Sudhir Mungee, a cardiologist at OSF Healthcare. "Prevention is better than cure."

Trish Cristakes, from the ABC of Heart of Illinois, was invited to lead the event.
