Louisville, Kentucky –
Hecla Mining said Thursday that its reserves of silver, lead and gold by the end of 2018 were the largest in its history, which should bode well for an extension of the life of the mine, including its flagship mine, Greens Creek, Alaska.

Thanks to the additional reserve gains, "we are almost certain that Greens Creek will be able to extend its life by three years," said Mike Westerlund, Vice President of Investor Relations at Cœur d'Alene. Idaho.
The Greens Creek underground mine is Hecla's largest mine, accounting for approximately 50% of the company's revenues. The mine produces silver, lead, gold and zinc and its reserves increased by 23%, with silver ounces leading the way with an additional 19%.
At the Casa Berardi mine in Hecla, Quebec, reserves increased by 35%, mainly due to the increase in gold reserves. Casa Berardi represents about 35% of the company's income.
Westerlund said that there was no progress in resolving a nearly two-year strike at Lucky Friday's underground silver, zinc and lead mine, near of Mullan, in Idaho.
About 200 members of the United Steelworkers union have been on strike at the mine since March 2017.
According to Westerlund, the supervisory staff only produces a limited amount of production at Lucky Friday, mainly in order to generate revenue to cover the costs of the strike.
