Pastor Mensa Otabil, general overseer, International Central Gosple Church, says the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a historical reality, not a myth.
He said that the resurrection, the center of the Christian faith, was real and not something that was being said metaphorically.
“He died, he was buried and rose to life,” the overseer general said.
Dr. Otabil recounting the account of the apostle John as recorded in John 20: 1-8 during the Easter Sunday resurrection service on the theme “Jesus is not in the tomb”, said that the tombstone had been rolled away and Jesus was resurrected by the power of God.
He said it was proof of the “gentle and mighty” power of God in action.
Dr Otabil said that God in some situations operates smoothly and applies force where the need is.
He said that everything that happened at the tomb attested to the fact that He was resurrected and was not taken away by the disciples or any other person or persons.
“John, Peter, Mary and others saw and all believed he was truly resurrected,” Dr Otabil said.
He said there were historical sites proving the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and called on Christians to stay strong in the faith.
Dr Otabil asked them to keep faith in the Risen Christ and to know that the tomb was empty because He rose from the dead.
