His son, now a Catholic priest, officiates for the renewal of parents' wishes
Their parents separated very young 32 years ago, and every effort to reunite them was in vain.
However, after three decades, their parents are now reunited and their marriage was celebrated by one of their children, Father Moses Kabenla Arthur, who is now a Catholic priest.
Joseph Thomas Frank Arthur, 81, and Theresa Arthur (also known as Awulae Nda-Bozoma II) 70, gathered at a ceremony at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Half Assini in Jomoro district on January 19, reported Mirror newspaper.
The couple reaffirmed their love and commitment to each other. According to the Mirror, their children, visibly excited, worked tirelessly to bring them together.
The eldest son, Mr. Richard Kojo Arthur, recalled that he was in high school when his parents separated.
According to him, he and his brothers and sisters were too young to understand the cause of the separation.
He said that they lived with their mother in Takoradi but that she moved to Jomoro, in the western region, when she was named queen mother.
"We were quite young when the problems started, so we did not really understand the cause of the separation. Personally, I was in a boarding house and I only went home during the holidays, "Arthur told the Mirror newspaper.
"All this time we lived in Takoradi but Mom was a queen mother of Jomoro in the western region and moved to settle there.
"My younger brothers and sisters were also at school, so they lived with our father and we visited our mother from time to time during the holidays."
Unfortunately, one of the brothers and sisters, Thomas Frank Arthur, could not live to attend the meeting of his parents.
Mrs. Arthur is the queen mother supreme of the traditional sector of western Nzema.
She is also President of the Western Regional Queenmothers Association.
