Hoard Cash Found at the Home of the Former Sudanese President (PHOTO) | General news

An important treasure trove has been found at the deposed president of Sudan, Omar al-Bashir, who is currently under investigation for money laundering, prosecutors said.

The security services have found Sudanese euros, dollars and pounds totaling more than 130 million dollars (100 million pounds sterling).

The former leader was placed under house arrest after months of demonstrations that led to his dismissal.

It is reported that Mr. Bashir is currently being held in Kobar High Security Prison.

A Sudanese judicial source told the Reuters news agency that suitcases containing more than $ 351,000, 6 million euros ($ 6.7 million) and five billion Sudanese pounds ($ 105 million) books) had been found at Mr. Bashir's home.

The source also confirmed that Mr. Bashir was under investigation, saying that Reuters prosecutors would "interrogate the former president in Kobar Prison".

Radio Dabanga, a media based in the Netherlands, shows men in uniform of the army standing in front of what appears to be several bags full of money.

The money, of which Radio Dabanga would have been informed by the journalists, was placed in bags designed to hold 50 kg of cereals.

On Saturday, the Attorney General of Sudan announced that a new committee would be set up to oversee anti-corruption investigations.

Despite measures taken to hold Mr. Bashir and other responsible officials, the Sudanese army does not seem to have the confidence of protesters calling for a civilian regime, said Alastair Leithead, BBC Africa correspondent.
