Rev. Makafui Klutse, pastor of the Hohoe Miracle temple at Perez International Chapel, says it was important for Christians to understand the purpose of celebrating Christmas.
He said Christmas lately hadn’t been the same as it was centuries ago, adding that most people abused the celebrations because they didn’t know its purpose.
“People believe that Christmas was about celebrating, getting together, eating and wearing all kinds of food and clothing. For others, it was a vacation, finding time to play, going on excursions and visit new places. ”
Pastor Klutse, who preached at a common worship temple service, said most people want to cash in, make money as quickly as possible due to their losses this season, no matter what. it would cost them.
The pastor said that while the purpose of celebrating the season was not bad, it was time for Christians to take a hard look at the purpose of the Christmas feast.
“For most people, once there was no food, party, holidays, and wearing new clothes, there was no Christmas.”
He said most people were busy preparing for Christmas, which took longer than celebrating Jesus Christ.
Pastor Klutse urged Christians to include the things of and about Jesus Christ in their plans for the Christmas season and be dedicated to it.
He said that Christmas is about giving and that the most important gift to give is Jesus Christ, whom God gave to the world as an act of forgiveness.
“As we celebrate Christmas, may you look for someone; the elderly, physically disabled and orphans with compassion and be a blessing to them and I assure you that before the end of the year there will be a reciprocal change in your life.
Pastor Klutse noted that Christians must take steps to forgive others, to settle their differences with each other.
The service was themed, “To Us a Child is Born” with the scriptures from the book of Isaiah 9: 6, 7.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of peace.
“Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and righteousness from now on in never. The Lord’s zeal of the hosts will effect this. ”
