The wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles was not a fairy tale and when they broke up in 1992, the public learned how tumultuous their relationship was.

Diana looked like "a prisoner in a cell"
In the documentary 2019, Royals at warMorton recounted how he felt when he first heard the recordings and that Diana looked like "a prisoner in a cell".
"She was absolutely miserable and she felt like a prisoner of the palace," he said. "She felt that she needed to talk. I put my headphones on, turned on the tape recorder and this cascade of emotions came out. She spoke like a prisoner in a cell that only had a few minutes to tell the story.
Morton added: "There was talk of his misery, of his misfortune. It was totally, completely shocking. I had the impression of entering a parallel universe. "
She had trouble integrating with the royal family
Diana also admitted to having difficulty integrating with the royal family and expressed a certain jealousy that it seemed so easy for her former sister-in-law, Sarah Ferguson.

Diana has been fighting bulimia for years.

She knew that Charles had an affair with Camilla
Her husband's infidelity was another stress factor for Diana.
She knew that he had an affair with her former flame, Camilla Parker Bowles, and had even had the courage to confront her. Diana also confronted Charles about it, but it did not go well because he acted as if it was perfectly acceptable for him to cheat on her with another woman because of her status as a king.
"I refuse to be the only Prince of Wales ever to have had a mistress," he told him.
Princess Diana died of a car accident in Paris on August 31, 1997.
