His wife was among the mourners traveling from Tema to Accra on Sunday, drowned with a couple of soldiers and 13 others on the Tema highway.

Mr. Saah, who was also in bed, managed to swim up to safety but now has to deal with the trauma of losing his wife, with his only child. The 11-year-old girl has been missing since the unfortunate incident.

He told what happened to Maxwell Agbagba, of Joy News, who visited him at the family home.

According to him, they attended a funeral in Tema and just as he was leaving, he began to rain heavily.

"We were 17 in all, with three people sitting in the van and 13 more sitting in the bed of the vehicle.

"Before arriving at the Ashiaman Bridge area, the front tire of the vehicle had hit a pothole and the impact caused the vehicle to veer off the road to landing." a culvert, "he said.

This threw the car out of control and with those in the bed landing in the water gathered on the deck. It was a survival for life while everyone was struggling to save his life.

"The driver, a soldier and a couple of soldiers who were also inside the van all died instantly. It was a very difficult and traumatic situation … just when I tried to get out of the pool, I fell to the water because of the strong current. "

"I managed to hang on to a stick at the edge of the water and get out," he told how he survived the situation.

Mr. Saah, visibly shaken, told the reporter that at the time, he had not seen his wife and child, but another victim told him that she was with his child.

"She said she managed to keep my child for a while after the accident, but because of the current, she had to let go and run away. I have never seen my wife after the accident.

"Losing my child, Ato Kwamina left me devastated … at least I'll be at peace once I find the body … three days without counting and I still have not found my child that left me very sad, "said the father in tears.
