A new synopsis for Marvel’s Hawkeye series reveals how Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop will be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A new synopsis for Hawk Eye reveals how Kate Bishop will be introduced to the MCU on the Marvel show. While the animated series What if…? is currently in the middle of its 9-episode series, Hawk Eye will be the next live-action Marvel series to air on Disney +. Based on the comics by Matt Fraction and David Aja, Hawk Eye will see the anticipated return of his main character, Jeremy Renner’s master marksman, Clint Barton, who was last seen for Avengers: Endgame.

With fan-favorite characters like Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) recently making their solo debuts, Hawkeye will have time to shine on November 24. Hailee Steinfeld will be introduced as Kate Bishop, a young archer and Hawkeye fangirl. Florence Pugh will reprise her role as Yelena Belova in the wake of Black WidowClint’s post-credits scene and her on a collision course. Also on the bill are Vera Farmiga, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox and Fra Fee. While the plot details for Hawk Eye remain slim, new information has been revealed regarding how Kate will be integrated into the MCU.

According to a synopsis found in the fall preview issue of TV Guide Magazine, which was posted on Reddit by user magikarpcatcher, Hawk Eye will be a “holiday tale set in the snow of New York City“and will find Clint Barton giving Kate Bishop a special gift, his bow and arrows. However, when the two first meet, Clint”has no idea who [Kate] is and doesn’t really understand her obsession with him“, according to executive producer of the show Trinh Tran. The synopsis also confirms that the show will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, when half of Earth’s population, including Clint’s family, returned after an absence of 5 years.

Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop introduction was already teased in the show’s first official released image, which showed her standing across from Clint Barton with a bow and arrow in her hand. In the comics, Kate is Clint’s successor to the Hawkeye coat and it has long been assumed that this would be the case in the Disney + series as well. It will certainly create an interesting dynamic between the two characters, with a lot of potential for a hard-hitting dialogue.

The original Avengers passing their mantle to other characters has become a trend in the MCU lately. Falcon and the Winter Soldier recounted Sam Wilson’s struggle to accept Captain America’s mantle and Black Widow positioned Yelena as Natasha’s natural successor. It will be interesting to see how Hawk Eye does the same for Kate Bishop when the Disney + series airs on November 24.
