"[Sarah’s] knowledge with the princess of Wales had developed in a close friendship and while the Windsor meeting was largely the private meeting of the ruler, she enjoyed the company of younger people and naturally sought enough beautiful girl when she came to list the guests.

"Sarah was the obvious choice."

Seward continued: "The good age, the good context and already familiar with the Royal family."

Ms. Seward writes that Diana deliberately placed her friend, a red-haired friend near Andrew, in Royal Ascot breakfast.

"The princess, an incorrigible romantic, may have tried a little marriage."

While Diana and Sarah were initially good friends, the pair had an infamous relationship after Diana allowed His Majesty believe that Fergie disclosed the news of his separation from ex-husband Andrew.
