The candidate who was also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Garu constituency in the 2020 election failed to secure confirmation, a result which was blamed on a previous decision to clear the names of the NABCO staff who would be members. of the National Democratic Congress.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East region threatened to continue orchestrating the rejection of the candidate through members of the District Assembly who sympathize with the party until all 17 people be reintegrated into the NABCO program.

However, a member of the NPP communications team in Garu constituency, Andrew Atariwi, blamed the candidate’s predicament on outgoing District Chief Executive (DCE) Emmanuel Asore Avoka.

He revealed that letters were written by relevant NABCO staff upon their withdrawal from the program, but no action was taken to address the issue.

“The NDC’s claim that the parliamentary candidate at the time was the one who ordered the withdrawal of NABCO personnel is not true. You should know that the dates come from Accra and you cannot sit here to do it. In addition, he was only a parliamentary candidate and the names of these people, we are told, it was after the elections that they were withdrawn and some also in the month of the elections or a month before the elections. Andrew Atariwini added that Upper East regional minister Stephen Yakubu intervened in the case and that investigations have been opened into the case.
