The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, shed more light on the law on the right to information.

President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday approved the law on the right to information adopted by Parliament in March 2019.

The purpose of the RTI Act is to give effect to Article 21 (1) (f) of the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana of 1992 which states that "Everyone has the right to information subject to the qualifications and laws necessary for democratic process. society."

It also aims to operationalize the constitutional right to information of the public and certain private institutions, subject to the necessary and consistent exemptions for the safeguarding of the public interest in a democratic state.

In an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi about Peace FM & # 39; s Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, morning program "Kokrokoo", said that any delay in obtaining information under this new law could be reported to the ITR Commission.

He went on to describe the access to information processes under this legislation.
