How to: Jailbreak your iOS Device with the help of Pwnage Tool for Mac [Jailbreak Superguide]

[ad_1]

The Pwnage tool by the The DevTeam hacker group lets you create custom iPhone firmwares for the purpose of jailbreaking, for total control over your device (see why you should jailbreak here).

Currently, version 4.1.2 of Pwnage Tool allows you to jailbreak a device already on the latest firmware. however, it will not unlock the device, which allows it to be used with different GSM operators in the world.

You can also use greenpois0n from Chronic Dev to achieve the same goal. There is virtually no difference between the different tools except they come from different development teams.

ingredients:

  • Mac.
  • An iPhone (3G or higher) / iPod Touch (G3 or higher) / iPad
  • Firmware version 4.1 for iPhone (3G / 3GS / 4) or 3.2.2 for iPad. (For iPod Touch, you must download it directly from iTunes using the 'Download Only' option when prompted, and then obtain it from / Users / your username / Library / iTunes / iPod Software Updates /).
  • PwnageTool 4.1.2 (torrent available here).
  • iTunes 10 or later

Back up all your information using iTunes before following this tutorial.

1. Download the Pwnage tool and double-click to open the disk image. Open the Pwnage Tool application inside.

2. Click "OK" to close the "welcome message" and select your device from the options provided. Click the down arrow button on the right to continue.

3. Pwnage Tool will automatically detect the appropriate firmware files on your Mac, select the correct file and click the arrow button to continue.

4. When prompted to create and save a custom firmware file to your desktop, choose "Yes". Then he will ask you, if you have an AT & T (for iPhone) contract, choose "Yes" if you want to activate it normally with iTunes, otherwise, choose "No" (this will allow you to use the iPhone with any AT & T data plan).

5. Now you need to create a custom firmware file. When prompted, type the user name and pbadword of your Mac, and then click "OK."

6. Connect your device to the Mac and follow the instructions on the PwnageTool screen to enter DFU mode.

7. PwnageTool will now tell you that you have entered the DFU mode successfully, click 'OK' and close the application.

8. iTunes will tell you that a device has been detected in "recovery mode", click "OK".

9. Select your device from the device list. Hold down the 'option' key on the keyboard and click the restore button. Select the newly created custom firmware on your desktop, then click "Choose." iTunes will then be restoring your iPhone to custom firmware.

9. After the restore, iTunes will restart your device, click "OK" when prompted.

10. After rebooting, your device will be jailbroken with Cydia on the home screen. You can now restore from an iTunes backup or choose to configure it as a new device.

All the credit for the right tool goes to DevTeam.
