How UK newspapers reacted to Harry and Meghan’s interview – from wall-to-wall coverage to nothing at all

Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Harry and Meghan did not completely dominate UK headlines on Monday, with UK viewers yet to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s allegations of racism and isolation.

The British royal family has yet to formally respond, ahead of the UK airing of the interview on broadcaster ITV.

The Daily Mirror, the country’s left-wing tabloid, got right to the main point, that someone asked about their baby’s skin color, Archie, before he was born.

The late edition of the Daily Mail also made headlines in the interview, including Meghan claiming palace officials lied to protect other royals and Harry’s claim that her father, the Prince Charles, had ceased to answer his calls.

His website was almost entirely dominated by interview coverage, from a light look at Archie’s chicken coop, complete with his Chick Inn chickens, to the social media backlash that divided Americans and Brits.

The Sun also devoted its front page to the interview, with the tabloid including an article on the secret meaning of the Armani dress she wore. The Sun is owned by News Corp., which owns MarketWatch, the publisher of this report.

The Daily Telegraph, a pro-royal conservative media outlet, featured a photo of the couple on the front page, as well as an article on Queen Elizabeth II highlighting the importance of family in its Commonwealth Day message. His website, however, became complete Harry and Meghan, including an analysis article that the royal family needed a ‘bulletproof vest’ to last. Another said there were “enough bombs to sink a flotilla”.

One newspaper, the I, made no reference to the interview on its front page.
