Huawei Technologies Ghana has sent a message from its global headquarters, reminding the commitment of the world's second-largest smartphone maker to create a sustainable software ecosystem.
The company said that as a key global partner of Android, it has been striving to develop a robust ecosystem that has been very beneficial to users and the industry globally.
In a statement issued by Integriti News Agency, with a copy to the Ghanaian news agency in Accra, Huawei Ghana shared its message following Google's ban on using its operating systems.
The statement from Huawei's global office reads, "Huawei has made a substantial contribution to the development and growth of Android worldwide.
"As a key global partner of Android, we have worked closely with their open source platform to develop a beneficial ecosystem for both users and the industry.
"Huawei will continue to provide security updates and after-sales services to all Huawei and Honor existing smartphone and tablet products, including those that have been sold or are still in stock around the world."
The company, the statement said, would continue to build a secure and sustainable software ecosystem, to provide the best possible experience for all users in the world. "
Given the trade war between the United States and China, the Trump administration has added the Chinese multilateral technology company to the list of companies with which US companies can not trade unless they obtain a license.
In accordance with the export restrictions, Google has cut the license of Huawei and therefore banned the company from using applications such as Google Map and Gmail.
Existing customers, however, can update their phones and apps. But they can not download a newer version of the Android operating system.
