Still bad news for Huawei. The Chinese technology group, caught between the two fronts of the US-China trade dispute, has just been expelled from the SD Association. This, after it's already been revoked by Google's Android license and that Intel and Qualcomm have stopped delivering, while ARM recently broke the commercial relationship.
As written Engadget, Huawei is no longer a member of the SD Association, responsible for developing and managing SD and MicroSD memory card standards. It means so much that Huawei no longer has the license to embed appropriate card slots in its own smartphones. Although Huawei can apply for a license for non-members, one wonders if this would be granted in the light of US sanctions. However, the Chinese company has its own storage medium with the Nano memory card, which is even smaller and more compact than standard SD cards. And its own operating system for its smartphones is under development. Nevertheless, the exclusion of the SD Association should further complicate the positioning of Huawei's devices on the market.
