With the Mate X, Huawei presented the absolute culmination of the Mobile Word Congress (MWC) 2019. Samsung introduced its collapsible smartphone, the Galaxy Fold, a few days earlier. Both devices will be available later this year. While they still could not touch it at the MWC, Huawei is currently touring Europe with the Mate X. Thursday, the Chinese made a stopover in Vienna. While Apple is still working hard on a collapsible iPhone, Huawei and Samsung have already finished their innovative smartphones. The Galaxy Fold will arrive in May for 2,000 in the trade, the Mate X follows in the summer and costs 2,300 euros. Because of the high prices, they will not first of all conform to the clbadic flagship models. Nevertheless, they are extremely important contributions for the future of smartphones. As Huawei had already forecast a fall in prices to 1,000 euros for next year, many buyers should not delay to switch to such a device. The higher the quantities produced, the lower the prices.

Finally a real innovation
As shown in our first quick check of a Mate X not yet finished, the benefits are obvious. A foldable smartphone combines two devices in one. The question of a smartphone or a tablet is then no longer. And although Huawei has already done a lot of things and the Mate X already works well in pre-series, this exciting technology will be even more mature. After a long period of evolution rather than revolution in smartphones, a big leap forward has finally been realized. For that, you have to thank Huawei and Samsung. Other manufacturers will follow soon.
