Huawei has released a first beta version of EMUI 9.1 for the Mate 20 series. Otherwise, the latest version of Huawei's interface currently only works on the new high-end models P30 and P30 Pro.

According to Huawei's change log, this is an exceptionally nice update for customers, with the novelty of a faster file system (EROFS) with up to 20% higher performance in random write . The new file system should also release 2 GB of space. Huawei writes that performance has improved overall thanks to "Ark Compiler", with a more responsive system.

EMUI 9.1 includes new icons and backgrounds, the GPU Turbo 3.0 game mode and the ability to launch Google Assistant by holding down the power button (as in OxygenOS). The company also announced that EMUI 9.0, and therefore Android Pie, was poised to become a growing number of phones.

The list includes Honor 7X, Honor 9 Youth Edition, Honor 9i, Huawei Enjoy 7S, Huawei Enjoy 8 Plus and Huawei Enjoy 9 Plus.
