Huawei's first 5G phone, the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, will launch in some markets by the end of July, despite lingering uncertainties about Huawei's future as a maker of Android devices. The state led by China Global Times reports that the phone will go on sale in China on July 26, while VentureBeat notes that the phone is currently available for pre-order on the Italian site of Amazon whose release date is July 22 and will be available in the UAE on July 12.
The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G is very similar to the existing Mate 20 X on the outside, with the same 7.2-inch screen and three rear cameras. However, its internal components have been slightly upgraded to meet the requirements of its Balong 5000 5G modem. More specifically, the battery has increased from 4,200 mAh to 5,000 mAh, its RAM from 6 GB to 8 GB, and its storage. 128 GB to 256 GB.
In other countries, the release of Huawei's first 5G phone is more uncertain, due to the company's continued presence on the list of US entities, which has led Google to suspend its Android license.
