ABC News reports that dozens of people have stormed the streets of Accra today to support the "Kum yen preko" march organized by the Coalition for Social Justice.

The protest goes against what they describe as hardships, insecurity and oppression experienced under the current Akufo-Addo government. Many protesters were seen dressed in red, with placards carrying various messages in the air to send a strong signal of their dissatisfaction.

The march, which is currently underway, began in Obra and brought together the President and Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), MP for North Tongu, the Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Nana Oye Lithur, main organizer of the event; Bernard Mornah among others.

The former president, John Dramani Mahama, also said his support for the march. According to him, the cost of living in the country has become unbearable, with heightened insecurity being one of the reasons he believes that protest is necessary.

Below is the full post of the former president and flag bearer of the NDC

"# Kumy3npr3ko

Our country is down, with an unbearable increase in the cost of living. citizens do not feel safe, yet the government continues to oppress and intimidate the public, including journalists.

This state of affairs is a threat to our democracy, especially as the moral society remains indifferent and surprisingly silent about developments in our country, Ghana.

I greet, approve and encourage everyone to come out tomorrow and join the # Kumy3npr3ko protest organized by the Coalition for Social Justice.

There is a lot of anger among Ghanaians and it is starting to show up even among the security services. This event gives all the allied groups who participate in it an opportunity to practice.

It is in our country's interest to stand up and express our disapproval of the Akufo-Addo leadership style, which has experienced unprecedented hardships for Ghanaians.

Join the protest tomorrow # Kumy3npr3ko and show your anger against hardship, insecurity and oppression. "
