SEOUL (Reuters) – South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Co. has denied Sunday that it has been informed of the signing of a preliminary agreement with Chinese technology company Tencent Holdings for the development of software for vehicles without driver.

Hyundai's comments come a day after the Korean newspaper Maeil Business News on Saturday quoted anonymous sources in the industry as saying the two companies planned to jointly conduct research and development on safety systems for autonomous cars. Hyundai is looking to market by 2030.

The two companies did not make any immediate comments on Saturday.

Hyundai said Sunday in a statement that its cooperation with China's tech giant was focused on infotainment. Modern cars feature infotainment systems on a screen located under the dashboard to provide services such as navigation and music.
