The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, expressed his gratitude to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Asanteman for supporting the New Patriotic Party and its candidacy for the presidential and legislative elections of 2020.

President Akufo-Addo made it known on Friday 1st October 2021, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Asantehene at his palace in Manhyia, at the start of his 4-day working visit to the Ashanti region.

“I am here to express my gratitude to you and Asanteman for your support during the last election. You have supported the NPP since time immemorial and in the last election, without your unwavering support and that of Asanteman for me and the NPP, we would not have been in government, ”said the President.

He continued, “I am here to show you and the whole kingdom my gratitude for this strong support that has seen us in power.”

President Akufo-Addo, explaining the reasons for his visit to the region, indicated that he is in the region to familiarize himself with the many development projects underway in the region and to listen for himself to the concerns of the inhabitants. , traditional authorities and opinion leaders. .

The president also took the opportunity to assure the residents of the Ashanti region that he would not take their support for him and the nuclear power plant for granted, stressing that it is for this reason that several development projects have been achieved, many of which are still ongoing in the Region.

“There are a lot of projects going on. We can all attest to the fact that Kumasi and Asanteman have not witnessed such massive road infrastructure projects in our political history. Other projects like 1D1F, the ongoing construction of Kumasi airport which is 77% complete and by June of next year it will be completed after which its international status will be achieved. ” he declared.

President Akufo-Addo also assured Otumfuo Osei Tutu II that while there have been delays regarding the Boankra Inner Port project, plans are well advanced for the project to take off.

For its part, Asantehene congratulated the President for his commitment to the development of the region and the country.

He also congratulated the president on his tour of the country, adding that “if you stay in your office, your appointees will tell you what you want to hear. This tour will help you check what you are hearing and get to know the truth.
