The government has tabled an amendment to Bill 2018 on public holidays (amendment) in Parliament.

August 4th of each year will now be known as the day of the founders.

In addition, the birthday of Ghana's first president, Kwame Nkrumah, who was previously designated as the day of the country's founders, will now be known as Nkrumah Memorial Day, while Jan. 7 will be known as the Day. of the Constitution.

August 4 and January 7 will thereafter be statutory holidays if Parliament pbades the bill.

On the other hand, the government is proposing to abolish the AU party on May 25 as well as the Republic Day on July 1.
