MP Fomena and 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament has dismissed claims that he is under pressure to declare whether he will run as a parliamentary candidate on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket.
Andrew Amoako Asiamah reportedly said in an interview that he was under pressure to state whether he intended to run in the 2024 parliamentary election as an NPP candidate.
This, he says, is wrong.
According to aide from Fomena MP Seth Oduro, “The Honorable Andrew Amoako Asiamah has not given any media interviews since taking the oath of office as 2nd Deputy Speaker of the 8th Legislature on January 7, 2021” .
“We wish to officially state that there was no such interview and that the claim is false and is the figment of someone’s imagination,” he said.
“We are aware of the relentless attempts to sully the hard-earned reputation of the Honorable Member in order to convey his disaffection with him.
“The MP is under no pressure to declare his position on the issue,” he added.

I AM NOT UNDER PRESSURE TO DECLARE IF I WILL CHALLENGE THE 2024 ELECTIONS ON THE NPP-FOMENA MP TICKET
Our attention was drawn to a publication in which the Honorable Member and Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Andrew Amoako Asiamah allegedly said he was under pressure to declare whether or not he intended to participate in the parliamentary elections. from 2024 the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In fact, the Honorable Andrew Amoako Asiamah has not given any media interviews since taking the oath of office as Second Deputy Speaker of the 8th Legislature on January 7, 2021.
So we’re surprised that a number of portals downgraded their post to an alleged interview that never happened in the first place.
This is not only unethical and an affront to good journalistic standards, but also dangerous for the country’s nascent democracy.
We would like to point out that there was no such interview and that the statement is false and is the figment of someone’s imagination.
We are aware of the constant attempts to sully the hard-earned reputation of the honorable Member in order to convey his disaffection with him.
The MP is under no pressure to state his position on the issue.
Indeed, the voters who sent him to Parliament to represent them as an independent candidate fully understand the particular circumstances surrounding his election.
They are happy with his performance so far.
The Honorable Andrew Amoako Asiamah is also grateful for the honor bestowed upon him upon his elevation as the Second Speaker of the House of August.
For now, he is contributing his quota to the consolidation of the constitutional order, the national development program as well as the development of Fomena and the Ashanti region as a whole.
He won’t be embarrassed by those who want him to fail so they can climb on his shoulders to launch their political careers.
We urge the good people of Ghana and especially the voters of Fomena to ignore the post with the contempt it deserves.
