A former deputy minister of the Ashanti region was shocked by the murderous murder committed against his party's office in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region.
Joseph Yamin and Afrifa Yamoah-Ponkoh, former executive director of Ejisu-Juaben, were questioned Monday by police for their possible involvement in the shooting.
The incident caused the death of one of the fighters and injured another in another.
In an interview with reporters after meeting with the police, Mr. Yamin said that he had no hand on the shooting, that he was away from the party office and that he was not in charge. He was therefore surprised that someone told the police that he was aware of the incident.
"My surprise is why my name was introduced in this case. I have nothing to do with it, I was not near the place and I did not know anything about those who came here, "he said.
Mr. Yamoah-Ponkoh is also the subject of an investigation by the police
The former vice minister of sports under the government led by Mahama, however, said he would find people who reported his name and ask why.
He added that the will would cooperate fully with the police to investigate the case.
Ashanti regional police launched a search for four people who allegedly shot two people, one of whom was reportedly murdered at the National Democratic Congress office in Kumasi.
In a press release, police said the four suspects suspected of belonging to an NDC self-defense group, Hawks, were behind the attack.
The police are looking for Husein Barnabas, also known as Warrior, Mijima, Damos and Abu Taliban.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, an opposition party, said the party would cooperate with the police to identify the perpetrators of the shooting that occurred Monday in the Kumasi office.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia said that the police were free to treat the attackers if it was identified according to the law and that the party would not interfere with this process.
"We have indicated that the crime does not have a party color. We do not know who perpetrated these acts, but because of the presence of the eyewitness, I am confident that the police will have no difficulty in getting people to identify the culprits.
"Whoever did this should be picked up and treated according to the law, "he added.
