New Day’s entire work in WWE makes them a serious contender to be the most outstanding group of this generation.
Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E have revitalized their declining careers with the New Day gadget. Despite the early struggles, the trio moved on and made sure success was a guarantee.
During the last episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s UnSKripted, Dr Chris Featherstone hosted former WWE Superstar Eric Escobar for an engaging question-and-answer session, during which he spoke about the popular faction of WWE.
Eric Escobar spent five years in WWE until his exit in 2010, and most of his time was spent in the various development systems of the company.
The Puerto Rican star was a highly regarded prospect who won the Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) world title in a match starring Sheamus, Drew McIntyre and Curtis Axel. He was also briefly the on-screen love interest of Vickie Guerrero on SmackDown.
While speaking out on the topic of deserved talents getting their due atop WWE, Eric Escobar took a detour and shared his take on The New Day.
Escobar felt that Kofi Kingston and Big E should have been WWE World Champions multiple times. The former WWE star also shared his honest opinions regarding New Day member comparisons.
Eric Escobar said Xavier Woods has yet to reach the level Kofi Kingston and Big E have achieved in their respective careers. The former SmackDown star has said he has nothing against Woods and even praised the superstar’s value as a spokesperson and artist.
“Out of the three, and it’s not a shot against anybody, out of the three, I think Big E and Kofi should have been heavyweight champions, you know, a few times now. Nothing against Xavier Woods, I think Xavier Woods , he’s a great spokesperson and I think he’s very entertaining, but I don’t think he’s reached the level that Kofi and Big E have reached, “Escobar said.
That kid is going to be huge: Eric Escobar’s reaction to first meeting Kofi Kingston in WWE
Escobar saw many of today’s top stars in their WWE debuts, including Kofi Kingston and Big E.
Eric remembers meeting Kingston for the first time at Deep South Wrestling (DSW). He observed the Ghanaian-American star’s promos and in-ring work at DSW and was convinced of Kofi’s prospects as a future big star.
While Escobar saw Kofi Kingston’s potential almost immediately, he didn’t feel the same feeling when he first saw Big E in action.
Escobar and Big E were in FCW together, and he first saw the old powerlifter as “just another big guy in the business”. However, Escobar’s take on Big E changed when he started interacting with the two-time Intercontinental Champion.
Eric added that Big E has the natural charisma that sets him apart from the crowd.
“I remember the first time I saw Kofi on Deep South, cutting promos and wrestling.” Escobar continued, “I knew, at that point, that kid was going to be a star. This kid was going to be huge. When I saw Big E in FCW, I’ll admit I didn’t think; I just thought. , ‘Well, just another great guy.’ But then I started talking to him, and I knew there was something there. What was it? I mean, he has a certain charisma. I saw some potential, but like I said, that’s one of those things. That’s how the company develops that charisma, that potential. “
