He said he was starting to get into politics, but later changed his mind and teamed up with Nana Akufo-Addo prior to the 2008 general elections.
"I was a bit hesitant and my initial answer, "The economist said.

Dr. Bawumia eventually became vice president after the NPP's flagbearer Akufo-Addo won the 2016 general elections.
