Delali Brempong 28 Delali Kwesi Brempong

Delali Kwesi Brempong, parliamentary candidate at the Democratic National Congress for the partial election of Ayawaso West Wuogon, has expressed interest in appearing before the Judge Emile Short Commission to investigate the violence that has characterized voting.

He added that the Commission had not yet officially invited him to testify and that he would be obliged to do so.

Violence erupted in the Bawaleshie Park area during the election, leaving six shot dead.

Six others were also arrested and several others brutalized by masked gunmen, who belong to National Security.

In an interview with Akwasi Nsiah on Ghana Kasa on Kasapa FM, Brempong challenged the claims of National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah that shots fired on La Bawaleshie that day would come from his home.

"I am a pharmacist and not a gun maker, so how can I fire shots from home?" Asked Brempong.

He said the minister did not tell the truth to the commission.

"I chose not to participate in the elections because of the violence, so how could I cause such atrocities and allow me to say that I am withdrawing," said the candidate.

The three-member commission of inquiry, set up by President Akufo-Addo, has one month to complete its public hearings.
