I will act in the interests of all Ghanaians – Prez Akufo-Addo
President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo assured that he will continue to work for the benefit of all Ghanaians during his second term as President of Ghana.
Addressing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) national Thanksgiving service on Sunday (December 27) in Accra, the president said he would continue to work in the interests of not only the 6.7 million Ghanaians who voted for him, but also the 6.2 million Ghanaians who did not vote for him in the presidential election on December 7.
“I want to thank the people of Ghana for maintaining their confidence in our leadership of the nation, especially the more than 6.7 million people who voted for me. But, in distinguishing them, I also want to ensure the 6 , 2 million who did not vote for me, I will have their best interests at heart and in mind in everything I do, ”said the president to the cheers of thousands of NPP leaders and supporters gathered on the forecourt of the State House.
He also urged NPP members to take the opportunity to re-engage in promoting democracy and good governance without discrimination.
I will protect Ghana’s democracy
President Akufo-Addo also said he would do anything on his part as president to safeguard democracy in Ghana.
He instructed all Ghanaians, regardless of their political affiliation, to work together to ensure the progress of the nation.
“We must take the lead in realizing the main lesson of this election, which is that all people of good will, regardless of political affiliation, must work together to ensure the peace, prosperity and progress of our nation.
“Ghana continues to be a beacon of democracy and good governance on our continent and in the world and it is our responsibility to maintain this position … For my part, I will do all I can and will spare no effort to ensure that the institutions of our republic and our democratic commitment are not disturbed and continue fully and fully for the welfare and benefit of the people of Ghana. “
Gratitude to the Ghanaian clergy
The President expressed his gratitude to the Ghanaian clergy for their prayers for the success of his government during his first term and also thanked all NPP members for the various roles they played in ensuring his re-election. .
The theme of the thanksgiving service was: “Ebenezer, so far the Lord has helped us”; “For the battle belongs to the Lord”.
