Businessman and politician Kennedy Agyapong, who is also a member of Parliament for Assin Central, noted that he would be the first to be targeted if his party, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) enters the opposition, allowing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to take over the administration of the country.

To that end, he pledged to ensure that the NPP does not repeat the mistakes made in 2008 that led the then ruling party into opposition after this year’s general election.

Mr Agyapong said this is in reaction to certain developments at the National Lottery Authority (NLA) which he said were disturbing and could affect the party.

He noted that some people who never worked for the party in previous elections have managed to occupy key positions and frustrate NPP members.

This, he said, has the propensity to destabilize the party base, a situation he said he would not let happen.

“Some of us worked really hard to secure the party’s victory in last year’s election, it was no joke,” he said on his radio.

“I have toured the country several times and made sure Akufo-Addo won the elections, I knew the problems I went through on my way there and so we are not sitting down for anyone disturb the party.

“I will be the first victim if the NPP enters the opposition, so we will not allow anyone to disturb the party,” he added.
