The regional minister for Greater Accra said his mandate to get rid of the dirt in the city of Accra and make it one of the cleanest in West Africa remains steadfast.
Henry Quartey indicated that tackling the sanitation problem in Ghana remains a priority although some measures taken by his team to decongest the city have been met with much criticism and negative reactions.

As part of his determination to rid the city of some of its age-old challenges under the “Make Accra Work Again” program, the minister authorized the demolition of some structures.
Once again, her outfit took to the streets of Accra to clean up the dirt that engulfed the city.
On Thursday, Ayawaso Central Minister and Municipal Director General Alhaji Mohamed Quaye held a clean-up exercise.
The exercise, which began from the Paloma ring road, saw around 850 security personnel from the military, police, fire and immigration services participate in the clean-up exercise.
Commenting on some of the activities of the regional minister, such as the demolition exercise, the secretary general of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu said his activities could jeopardize the interests of the party.
“One thing you are looking at is that the government’s work does not run counter to party support on the ground. For example, the work done by the regional minister of Greater Accra is good, but it will affect party support on the ground. “
But in response to John Boadu’s comment, the regional minister said he was ready to tackle the problem of sanitation and congestion in the Ghanaian capital.
“We are all voicing our opinion, but I don’t think I will be disheartened. I will fight forward. Do you want another June 3rd? No. This whole arrangement with the stakeholders has been made, ”said Mr. Quartey.
However, after careful consideration of the benefits of the initiative, Boadu withdrew his comment, saying he now fully supports the measures taken by the Greater Accra regional minister to decongest, demolish unauthorized structures and rid the dirt city in its ‘Make Accra The Great Again’ program.
John Boadu in a radio interview conceded, stating that Minister Henry Quartey is doing a good job.
