Freddie Blay, National President of the NPP
National President of the ruling party, the new Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, said he was shocked by the claims of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) that he was escaping the investigation on his purchase of 275 buses for the NPP.
According to him, the Commission seems to be doing politics in this area.
He emphatically emphasized that "if they do politics, they should tell me," now his innocence on the purchase of buses.
The experienced politician therefore dared the CHRAJ to provoke his arrest for his alleged lack of cooperation with the investigations into the case.
In an interview with JoyNews, he urged the Commission to "seek a court order and arrest Freddie Blay for recalcitrance".
According to Mr. Blay, he did not receive any subpoena that the CHRAJ allegedly sent to his office.
He wondered how the CHRAJ would "go around the world", he escapes investigations when she had never invited him.
The reports suggest that the CHRAJ plans to start contempt proceedings against the NPP president.
Prior to the 2018 NPP national leadership elections, Mr. Blay had promised to purchase a bus for each of the 275 constituencies of the NPP.
Each constituency would receive money because the bus works for the STC transportation company.
Some groups and individuals viewed the move as an attempt to buy votes, while others called it a transplant.
About six days to a year after receiving a petition from a group called Coalition for Social Justice, the CHRAJ says that the survey has not made much progress.
The Coalition had alleged that the buses had been bribed.
Mr. Blay had indicated that a bank partially finances the purchase of buses.
He had also indicated that he (Mr. Blay) had also paid a down payment of $ 3 million.
As part of that deal, Mr. Blay explained that the loan had to be repaid within two years.
