Eliot Edem Agbenorwu, chief executive of Ketu South Municipal, said he is ready to seize the seat of the Ketu South constituency in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said that the decision of the outgoing MP, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey not to challenge the seat in 2020, placed him in pole position to win the seat of the NPP.

Agbenorwu said this after some NPP members chose candidates for the party's upcoming parliamentary primaries.

The MCE said that he had become the face of the constituency through pro-poor government policy and that he would take advantage of this popularity to win the seat.

"I am going to change the voting trend in South Ketu, we are already seeing the signals, it is very clear that things are changing and that all members of the NPP must join us to sit," he said.

Agbenorwu said the government has done a lot for Ketu South, with development projects spanning the municipality, making the NPP the most visible party in the region.

"We have opened South Ketu for rapid growth, it is gradually becoming the destination of tourism and investment and we know that the people will reward our efforts," he said.

The MCE stated that the population was ready to test the NPP and called all its members and supporters for support.

He declared that he was hiring voters for the first time, traditional authorities and other stakeholders to realize the dream of winning the Ketu South siege and to increase the number of votes of the presidential candidate party.

In the 2016 parliamentary elections, Maxwell Koffie Lugudor of the NPP won 4,148 votes, or 5.57% of the total valid votes, compared to 48,723 votes for the NDC, or 65.47%.
