Former President, John Mahama
Former President John Dramani Mahama said that he would win the 23rd of February 2019 race for the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NEC) and that he would make a comeback in order to stand for election from 2020 as president.
He promised to unite the other flag-wielding aspirants to work for victory in 2020, a victory he would win, because, in his eyes, no political party can beat the NDC when it is United.
Addressing delegates to the Ho West constituency on Monday, January 28, 2019, as part of his seven-day campaign tour in the Volta Region, Mr. Mahama promised to be a unifying force when He would be elected flag bearer.
Mahama told delegates, "One of the main things we all need to do is to unite. I think the party has a very good opportunity in 2020 to win the election and withdraw the NPP from the government, but we can only do it if we are united.
"I believe that every time the NDC is a party, there is no way to win a victory over us. So I want to promise you that we will hold this primary on February 23rd. once we finish the presidential primaries, we'll leave it behind and all of us, including my aspiring mates, will be united.
"Whoever wins the primaries, all of us, will support this person to win the victory in 2020 and I want to promise you that if I win or should I say when I win, because I am confident that I will win, I am sure that 39 with your support, I will win and I want to promise you that all the other aspirants will bring them together.
