A few hours after Inter's win in the Europa League in his absence, the Argentinean apparently posted an encrypted message on his Instagram account.
Mauro Icardi has apparently hinted that he would not comment on his situation at Inter in an encrypted post published on social media on Thursday.
The striker was stripped of the Nerazzurri captaincy before the Europa League match with Rapid Vienna, with Samir Handanovic instead.
The decision was described by "coach Luciano Spalletti" and by sports director Piero Ausilio as "painful".
Publisher's choice
Icardi then retired from the team for the Europa League shock and seemed to imply that social media had been injured – Spalletti claiming that it was the decision of the attacker .
And after a 1-0 win outside of Inter secured by Lautaro Martinez's penalty kick, Icardi again resorted to Instagram, though he seemed reluctant to openly address developments in the week.
Citing the famous American writer Mark Twain, Icardi wrote: "It's better to keep your mouth shut and look silly than to open it and remove all doubt."
Icardi's future in San Siro has long been the subject of speculation as Wanda Nara, his wife and agent, failed to agree on a new deal.
She would be angry at some by suggesting that Icardi was not protected enough from negative news.
Ausilio insists that the club is not trying to sell the Argentine international.
