Scots become dreamers …
Idlewild has announced its first album in four years with "Interview Music", as well as sharing the single "Dream Variations" and details of a UK tour in 2019.
Independent Scottish veterans will release their eighth album on April 5th, before heading to concerts in April.
To launch the disc, the band dropped the single "Dream Variations", adding a dynamic mix of American and ambient soundscapes to its catchy rock sound. Recorded between Scotland and LA and reunited with producer Dave Eringa, the group says the album sees them experimenting more than ever.
"A lot of songs talk about dreams and dreams, as well as thoughts and ideas that flow from this state," said singer Roddy Woomble of Inspiration's "Interview Music". "I live in the Scottish Highlands, and between California and California, you have two places that can put you in a dream. Drive on Sunset Boulevard at sunset or on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula at sunrise. The world seems unreal, magical. You dream through a landscape. "
He added, "What's really important about Idlewild is that we're basically punk-rock kids.
"No one has ever taught us to play anything. We formed a group and we learned. In our way. We were inspired by the bands we saw on stage, making noise, exchanging ideas and trying to change them.
This is mainly what the group always does. I am no longer a child crying in a microphone on the floor, but this ideal is always at the heart of our concerns. "
