Auditor General Daniel Domelevo said that if it was David Asante-Apeatu, he would not have accepted his appointment as Inspector General of Police because the government was still controlling them completely.

According to him, working under the full control and direction of the government renders his position ineffective, which is why he is unable to bring some perpetrators to justice.

It has not been easy to spend a few months at the IGP, as the country is plagued by a multitude of violent incidents that worry citizens about their overall security.

He further indicated that although he is not subject to any directive or control, some people nevertheless wish to exercise control over him, which he does not allow them to do.

Emphasizing the need for good institutions, he said that this anomaly could only work if the legal framework was critically examined.

"Personally, I feel that we need strong institutions, not macho to run a country, and I think the audit service does what we do because it's a strong institution … We have need good institutions; it starts with our legal framework ".
