Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Information
The government of Ghana responded to the demands of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which accused them of causing financial losses to the state by building "excavated ponds" disguised as dams under One Village, One Dam .
In a press release issued by National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi, the opposition party said the government's promise of 1V1D was misleading and aimed only at an electoral gain and was not supposed to be held.
In response to the NDC's statement, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah urged Ghanaians to disregard the opposition party's usual propaganda, with the sole aim of tarnishing the image of the opposition. administration without providing solutions to the problems.
According to the minister, 300 dams are under construction, of which 99% of the projects are uneventful. It is therefore disconcerting that the NDC only focuses on the 1.3% that has experienced difficulties.
Oppong Nkrumah revealed that "currently, 300 dams are under construction. Four of the 300 dams, 1.3%, are the only ones to have had challenges. These include work in progress at the Kajelo Dam in Kbadena-Nankana West District, which has been damaged by unplanned rainfall. The damage has been corrected since then. It is these four elements, that the NDC (which continually fails to come up with alternative solutions to the problems of irrigation in the north of the country), are evidence of a failed program that has caused financial losses to l & # 39; State. About 99% of the projects are without incident.
The minister said the government has taken note of opposition attempts to persistently defame national programs in order to minimize the benefits of such programs for Ghanaians.
Comparing the achievements of both sides, Oppong Nkrumah claimed that "Unlike the previous opposition party administration, which claimed to invest in northern Ghana through projects such as the guinea fowl project. (which did not exist at the end of their mandate), the 1V1D program will remain visibly on the ground and will serve people well once completed and handed over ".
He further asked if the NDC had already responded to the crying of the people of northern Ghana when they had asked for the construction of dams to support their agricultural activities.
Assuring Ghanaians that the Akufo-Addo-led administration was responsible for the implementation of all its flagship programs, the Minister of Information advised Ghanaians not to fall prey to the propaganda of Ghanaians. the NDC and also advised the NDC to "offer alternative programs and refrain from their usual propaganda government programs.
"Ghanaians are once again urged to disregard the usual propaganda and defamation of the NDC's national programs, while it offers no credible alternative to meet the challenges of our people. Those responsible for implementing the program are guided by the president's remarks to optimize resources, "he said.

99% OF 1V1D PROJECTS WITHOUT INCIDENT. STOP THE PROPAGANDA!
The Akufo-Addo administration takes note of the opposition's attempts, the NDC, to permanently denigrate national programs, with the aim of minimizing the benefits of such programs for the Ghanaian people.
The latest one is the CND's claim that the One-Village-One Dam program is a misleading exercise.
The Administration reminds the opposition that:
1. During the CDN's tenure, the Mahama administration offered no credible answer when members of the beneficiary communities requested the construction of dams to support their agricultural activities. During the 2016 election campaign, the NDC again offered no credible answers when requests were made for roadblocks. The current 1V1D program is a solution to the problems of irrigation in the northern regions. The NDC will be better served if it offers alternative programs to tackle the irrigation problems of the beneficiary communities rather than the usual use of nominal designations.
2. Three hundred (300) dams are currently under construction. Four (4) of the three hundred (300) dams, or 1.3%, were the only ones to have experienced challenges. These include work in progress at the Kajelo Dam in Kbadena-Nankana West District, which has been damaged by unplanned rainfall. The damage has been corrected since then. It is these four (4), that the NDC (which continually fails to provide alternative solutions to the challenges of irrigation in the north), are evidence of a failed program that has caused a financial loss to the state. About 99% of the projects run without incident. Some projects have already begun to serve beneficiary communities well. Seventy (70) of the dams in the Far East can be used before the peak of the rainy season. The remaining dams should be completed after the rainy season. Therefore, the claim that only forty (40) dams have been built up to now is another of the usual lies with which the NDC often tries to feed the Ghanaian public.
3. Regarding the dam model being built, it should be noted that the beneficiary communities who requested dams did not request a type of Akosombo dam. The model and specification of the dams requested under this program are of the exact type known to the members of the beneficiary communities. Development meets the same technical, financial and safety criteria for dams of this nature;
• Each dam covers an area of 2 hectares.
• The earth embankment wall has a maximum height of 5 m.
• The depth of the small dam is also 5 m.
• The length of the embankment wall is between 250 and 350 m.
• The width of the embankment wall is 4 m.
• In the central part of each dam is a canoe, which is the depression or the internal chamber of the dam. This depression has the size of 80 × 50 m with a maximum depth of 2.5 m gradually decreasing to zero at the shallow end.
• It is estimated that each dam, once completed, contains more than 30,000 cubic meters of water when it is full; enough to serve the recipient community's goals during the dry season.
It is also instructive to note that a NID or excavated pit like the NDC would like to describe the 1V1D dams, does not have similar characteristics to those described above.
4. In addition, the badertion that a financial loss has been or will be caused is unfounded. No contractor will or will be paid without providing equivalent value. The 1V1D program has put in place a strong monitoring framework to ensure compliance with specifications.
5. Contrary to the past of the opposition party, which claims to invest in northern Ghana through projects such as the guinea fowl project (which did not exist at the end of their term), the 1V1D program will remain visibly on earth and serve well the people once completed and handed over.
Conclusion
Ghanaians are once again urged to ignore mainstream propaganda and defamation of the NDC's national programs, while offering no credible alternative to meet the challenges of our people. Those responsible for the implementation of the program are guided by the remarks of the president to ensure the optimization of resources.
The Akufo-Addo administration will continue to focus on the execution of its flagship programs, including Free SHS, 1D1F and Planting for Food and Jobs. The NDC is advised to propose alternative programs and to abandon its usual propaganda aimed at reducing government programs.
