Accra, July 22, GNA – A High Court of Accra
postponed the procedure for contempt of the police inspector (IGP) and the
Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on October 10, 2019.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), David
Asante-Apeatu, was not present in court when the case was called to the
judge's room for the hearing.
Police reportedly refused to release the murder
suspect, Gregory Afoko, despite an order of the High Court of 20 March 2019, ordering
that he be released and that the suspect fulfill his condition of release on bail.
Both are accused of the police
decision to annul the court's decision to release Gregory Afoko, causing
the suspect to spend days in custody.

Judge Jennifer Dodoo, who hears the
the case, noted that the parties to the lawsuit were not in court, hence the

Afoko is on trial since 2015 as a key
suspect in the badbadination of the former regional president of the Upper East East
New Patriotic Party, Adams Mahama.
Adams Mahama was attacked with acid on his
returned home on May 20, 2015 by two people and subsequently died of severe acid burns.
