IGP is a hypocrite – Yammin attack during the last attack

The Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu, is attacked by a former Ashanti deputy regional minister, Joseph Yammin, who called for the dissolution of self-defense groups in the country.

He challenged him to designate a person that he had arrested while President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had ordered him to arrest disguised party youth who had strayed their limits and were seizing restrooms and vehicles upon their arrival in power.

"The IGP is a hypocrite to demand that vigilante groups be disbanded. When the president ordered him to arrest some people beyond their mandate, how many did he arrest, "he said.

According to him, Mr. David Asante-Apeatu does not really understand the meaning of the word "vigilante" and that if he did, he would not ask that such groups be removed from the system.

"What is his explanation of a vigilante? Those who demand the dissolution of self-defense groups are all hypocrites, because at every event, security always demands details about our internal security. The trend that should be of concern concerns illegalities, "he added.

It will be recalled that last week's IGP had enjoined political parties to denounce self-defense groups who claimed their allegiance with immediate effect.

According to the IGP, it is against the laws of the country that political parties have groups that have recently disrupted peace in the country.

"We want to appeal to all political parties to immediately denounce their own self-defense groups in order to raise the awareness necessary to encourage the police," said Asante Apeatu.

The police he has revealed is about to arrest and profile any group of people claiming to be self-defense groups, regardless of their political affiliations.

"We declare zero tolerance against political violence and vigilance," he promised.
