Ilford murder investigation: Neighbors awakened by ‘screaming and crying’ as 2 men die on the street

Neighbors woke up to “the sound of screaming and crying” the night two men were killed.

Met Police have launched a murder investigation after two men were found dead in Ilford, near Essex, in the early hours of yesterday morning (January 10).

Emergency services rushed to Tavistock Gardens just before 4.30am, where two men were discovered with potentially fatal injuries.

A 28-year-old woman was hit by police at the scene and arrested for murder.

The police believe they know the identity of the victims and are trying to contact their relatives.



Police open murder investigation after two men died

The woman, who had non-life threatening injuries, was first taken to hospital for treatment and is now in police custody.

A police cordon remains around the area with several forensic vans and officers outside the property.

A neighbor, Inamul Hussain, 32, told reporters he called the police after hearing a woman scream.

He said, “I saw them Taser her, she had blood on her. I heard the police say ‘put down the knife’.

“She was screaming something about her husband but it was pretty broken.

He added: “Several men and women live there, they always party and drink.”



The incident happened in the early hours of yesterday (January 10)

A video taken by Mr. Hussain shows that officers heard cries of “show me your hands now” and “come here now” and “get out, get on the ground now”.

Another man who lives nearby told the PA News Agency he woke up to the sound of a woman screaming.

Kuddus Miah, 44, said: “She was shouting ‘Help, help, call the police’.

“The police and ambulances were there very quickly.

Mr. Miah said he saw a woman “coming in and out of the house, calling for help and apparently having a knife in her hand”.

He added: “We’ve been living here for about 15 years and it’s a very quiet area, it’s shocking.”

Another man, who gave his name as Singh, described how a woman he saw was “quite hysterical, calling the police, screaming”.

He added, “She was at the door, then went back inside and then again, screaming and crying for help.

Homicide detectives continue to work on the investigation.
