The iPad is unquestionably the best mobile Internet navigation device I have ever owned. Its design, shape, and easy-to-use iOS interface make surfing the web much more natural and less awkward than a laptop. Therefore, it is good that Apple allows alternatives to the default Safari browser, which lacks features that we usually use on our computers.

One of these alternatives is a new browser called iLunascape from Lunascape, Inc. and it is available for free (iTunes link) in the iTunes App Store.

This browser takes a new approach to browser user interfaces on the iPad and I wonder why no one else has thought about it yet. The new specialized user interface of the developer, called "In Reach Interface", groups the most common movements and tabs down the screen of the iPad, where the user usually holds the device . In addition to this, the iPad user experience is the center of attention, but now includes desktop tab navigation, easy screen capture and storage, fast and smooth scrolling, the simple bookmarking and rotation commands of the iPad.

Hold iLunascape in portrait mode on an iPad. Note the clustered commands at the bottom.

iLunascape may not be for everyone, since everyone does not fit their iPad in the same way. However, if you are looking to replace Safari, this application is a good starting point with its unique interface and convenient office-like features. It's free and if you care about your browsing experience on the iPad, go get it.
