This week on Impact Wrestling, we had several important announcements, but probably as important as the revelation of the main event of the Impact Wrestling United We Stand, which will be held near WrestleMania 35 in April. Two unconditional legends will return to the Impact and they are ready for an absolute dream match.
While the attractiveness of WrestleMania has grown steadily over the years, more and more wrestling companies have capitalized on the fact that there are so many hard-core adherents concentrated in one and the same field. On Thursday April 4th, three nights before WrestleMania 35, Impact Wrestling partner will host United We Stand at the Rahway Recreation Center in Rahway, New Jersey, just across the New York border. The show is still in two months, but we now know the incredible main event that will close the evening.
Rob Van Dam and Sabu, two hardcore legends, will be back in the Impact Wrestling to face the current Impact World Tag Team's Lucha Bros, in what's touted as a 'dream match' extreme". RVD, former Impact World Champion and X-Division Champion, will return to Impact Wrestling for the first time in six years.
Rob Van Dam will work in partnership with his fellow former ECW member, Sabu, who has not participated in the Impact Wrestling since the beginning of the year 2010. The couple has not been teaming since close to A decade, but will come together for the event to be the hottest. wrestling team fighting today in The Lucha Bros.
While some fans have already expressed their frustration at seeing Sabu and RVD compete at this stage of their careers, it's important to remember the context of the series. This is not one of the major Impact Wrestling pay-per-view events. This Thursday night special, a few days before WrestleMania 35, takes place over a week rich in nostalgic moments.
RVD and Sabu may not be the hardcore minds they were two decades ago, but they can still compete and offer fans a memorable show against a team that few people thought we'd ever see them face. The Pentagon and Fenix are arguably the most fashionable couple in the fight today. They compete on the entire independent scene, capturing the titles of the Impact World Tag Team in Mexico and even joining the state-of-the-art promotion, All Elite Wrestling.
The Lucha Bros will face RVD and Sabu in an "Extreme Dream Match," which means we should witness a uniform mix of innovative Pentagon and Fenix offenses, as well as the innovative violence of RVD and Sabu. This may not be a match of the year candidate, but it's hard to deny how interesting it will be to see these teams face United We Stand. Fans in the area can purchase tickets to the live show in New Jersey, but the program will also be broadcast live on Twitch.
