Dr. Ana Botero spoke with the ASCO Direct Symposium of highlights in Miami in 2019 on the highlights of the Radiation Oncology of this year's meeting.

She begins by describing study NSABP-39, which examined the effects of partial bad radiotherapy compared to whole bad radiotherapy in patients with early-stage bad cancer.

Dr. Botero also discusses another study comparing transoral robotic surgery (TORS) with combined chemotherapy in patients with squamous cell carcinoma.

Turning now to locally advanced lung cancer, she also describes a study evaluating the incorporation of control point inhibitors into chemoradiotherapy treatment – which has so far had some advantages for local control of the disease.

Finally, Dr. Botero discusses the use of whole brain radiation and stereotactic radiotherapy to treat brain metastases.
