The whole world celebrates Eid al-Fitr, one of the two most important holidays in Islam.

The "feast of breaking the fast" begins when the moon rises on the last day of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.

The time varies from one country to another, some following the moonrise in Mecca and others using local observations.

After watching the first crescent of the new moon, a three-day festival is held to celebrate the event.
