KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) – Starting Monday, KCI will take a step closer to opening a new terminal.

The city will start at 14h at the former A terminal.

The new single-terminal airport will have 39 gates and will cover a little over a million square feet. There will be more shops and restaurants and a brand new parking garage right in front of the terminal.

The total price is about $ 1.5 billion.

Some frequent travelers have mixed feelings about it.

"I think we have a very good airport now. It's easy to get around, and I'm afraid it will be a lot more complicated when the new airport arrives. That's my fear, "said Terri Cole.

"I think it will be more convenient. I think he needs it. There is a lot of deterioration here. I worked on the initial phase of the remodels and it was a facelift for the time. I think Kansas City really needs a new simple and nice terminal, "said David Gutierrez.

When the new airport will be completed in 2023, it will replace the existing airport opened in 1972.
