Inauguration of the ANC board of directors

Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful inaugurated the board of directors of the National Communications Authority (NCA) at a ceremony in Accra on Monday.

The Board is composed of Mr. Isaac Emmil Osei-Bonsu as Chairman, with Mr. Joe Anokye; Mr. Kwabena Adu-Boahene; Mr. Alexander Bannerman; Hon. Ama Pomaa Boateng; Mr. Patrick A. Boateng; Dr Eugene owusu and Madame Ama AS Daaku as members.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister instructed the Council to regulate the communications industry in a forward-looking and transparent manner that promotes fair and sustainable competition for the benefit of citizens.

Ms. Owusu-Ekuful said, “The government’s digital transformation agenda relies on both ICT and telecommunications, as well as the ability to manage the communications sector well enough.

“The nation therefore entrusts you with a very heavy task as members of the governing body of the Authority to regulate the communications industry in a forward-looking and transparent manner which promotes fair and sustainable competition which results in a service and optimal products for the benefit of citizens, ”she said.

She also urged them to work together to ensure that the ANC is strategically oriented in the direction that facilitates the achievement of its goals.

“With your varied expertise, I expect you to put your energy, talents and collective efforts at the service of the pursuit of the Authority’s organizational objectives,” she advised.

She reiterated the central role of the NCA in ensuring continuous connectivity between people and systems, adding, “I expect spectrum and other resources to be managed wisely, challenges for service providers and all industry stakeholders are enhanced and become issues of the past, and an enabling environment is created to foster the use of technology and communication systems during this unprecedented era of Covid-19. You must also ensure that the deployment of the SIM registration exercise is well managed ”.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Mr. Isaac Emmil Osei-Bonsu thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his appointment and assured that their tenure will see the application of fair, consistent and forward-looking regulations.

He was convinced that through collaboration with all stakeholders, they would succeed and achieve their goals through prudent, proactive and progressive regulation of the industry.
