Indiana parents express after the earache of their daughter, meningitis

An earache at the age of 10 turns out to be meningitis. His parents are now expressing themselves to help others know what symptoms to watch for.

It's a Saturday that Abbigayle Dipietro, aged 10, has complained of earache and was taken to the emergency room where she was told that she was in the hospital. She was suffering from an ear infection. On Sunday night, Abbigayle was vomiting, but the doctors told her mother Tasha Dipietro-Anderson that it was normal for her to have headaches, vomiting and fever because of the l? ear infection.

However, Abbygayle had a seizure on Monday, so the doctors decided to check for the presence of meningitis after checking to see if she had the flu and other illnesses. Unfortunately, something went wrong during the bone tapping to check for meningitis and Abbigayle fell into a coma. Tuesday, Abbigayle had lost all her brain activity and she was declared dead Wednesday.

His parents donated his organs in hopes of getting something positive from this ordeal. They also set up a fundraiser on Facebook to help cover medical and funeral costs.

In the case of Abbigayle, she died of bacterial meningitis. Regarding the concerns of some parents about the possibility that their children have also contracted, the health authorities badure the public that there is no threat to other students.

Because of his death, his parents and the County Health Department are now talking about the symptoms that people must watch for when meningitis occurs. According to Dr. Lydia Mertz, Elkhart County Health Officer, a person with meningitis may have muscle pain, stiff neck, body aches, and difficulty in moving his head or shaking his head. A child may also complain of sore throat or earache.

There are certain types of meningitis vaccination, but it does not protect against all types of meningitis.
